Nuno Garoupa is Professor of Law, at Antonin Scalia Law Faculty, George Mason University. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of York (UK) and also holds an LL.M. from the University of London (UK). He has a long established research interest in the economics of law and legal institutions. Previuosly, Professor Garoupa served as President of Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos, Lisbon, Portugal (2014-2016). Professor Garoupa is the current President of the Spanish Association of Law and Economics (2017-2020).
The results of this research have been published in the top field journals, including Journal of Legal Studies, Journal of Law and Economics, American Journal of Comparative Law, Oxford Journal of Legal Studies, Journal of Legal Analysis and Journal of Empirical Legal Studies among others. He has been awarded the Spanish Julian Marias Research Prize (2010) and the NSF Award in Law and Social Science (2017) for a conference project on “Facilitating Empirical Studies of Judicial Behavior on Constitutional Courts from a Comparative Perspective.
