The International Conference ‘Ethics in the EU's AI Act’ returns for its 2nd edition, which will take place on 29 January 2027 in Lisbon.
Building on the Ethics in the AI Act workshop (1st edition), held at the Faculty of Law of Lund University in October 2025, this conference will provide a forum for transdisciplinary dialogue on the role of ethics and ethical principles within the governance framework of the AI Act, as well as on the ethical, regulatory, and conceptual challenges raised by artificial intelligence. It also seeks to foster reflection on the AI Act as a framework for coherent, human-centred, and trustworthy AI governance.
The conference will be followed by the publication of an open-access edited volume, scheduled for the end of 2027.
Interested researchers (including early-career researchers and PhD candidates) are invited to submit their papers.
An abstract of 350–500 words, in English, should be submitted by 16 October 2026 to: ethicsandtheaiact.fd.sede@ucp.pt .
Submissions must include a CV with email address and institutional affiliation.
Selected participants will be notified by 30 October 2026.
Please note that travel and accommodation expenses will not be covered by the organisers.
