Armindo Ribeiro Mendes

Born in 1946. He has an Undergraduate Degree (1969) and Master’s Degree (1972) in Law from the School of Law of Universidade de Lisboa. Lectured and chaired the Law of Obligations, Civil Procedure Law I, II and III and Compared Law in that School of Law until 1984. Lawyer. Head of Litigation at a Credit Institution (1983-1989). Former Constitutional Court Judge (1989-1998). Member of the Supreme Judicial Council from 2000 to 2005. Co-opted member of the Supreme Council of the Portuguese Bar Association 2003/2005. Invited Professor of the School of Law of Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2003/2004; 2004/2005; where he chaired Compared Legal Systems). Arbitrator in several commercial arbitrations.
