Transfer to Católica | Lisbon School of Law

Students may request a transfer to the Lisbon School of Law of Catholic University if:

  1. Have been enrolled and registered in another institution/course pair in Portugal, or in a country of the European Union, in the academic year preceding the one for which they are applying;
  2. They have taken the national secondary education examinations (or homologous examinations) which correspond to the entry examinations required for the new course programme.

Note: In addition to the curricular evaluation, an interview will be carried out with candidates who have a rating equal to or higher than 15/20 in their curricular evaluation.

Note 2: Applicants with nationality outside the European Union must apply under the International Student Status.

How to make your application

Candidates that have completed secondary education, whether national or international, must submit the application online .

The candidate must submit the application form and all the requested documentation. After all the documentation is submitted and validated, the candidate will receive an email with information to pay the application fee.

Transfer from a national higher education institution:
  • Official transcript issued by the previous higher education institution (the transcript must include all subjects attended with grades);
  • Program description of all courses attended;
  • Higher education certificate and entry examinations certificate;
  • Photocopy of Identity Card or passport (foreign candidates);
  • Motivation letter.

When equivalence is attributed to previously taken courses, the respective ECTS credits are recognised in accordance with the Católica | Lisbon School of Law curricula.

Regardless of the number of credits obtained through equivalence, the student must always complete at least 120 ECTS credits in Law courses taken at Católica | Lisbon School of Law.

Transfer from a higher education institution in countries of the European Union

The candidate must provide:

  • Photocopy of Identity Card or passport (foreign candidates);
  • Official transcript issued by the previous higher education institution (the transcript must include all subjects attended with grades). If the grades mentioned therein are different from the 0-20 grading system, this certificate must be provided with a declaration explaining the grading system;
  • Program description of all courses attended, for equivalence recognition purpose;
  • Document proving high school graduation equivalent to Portuguese Year 12, to be obtained from an official Portuguese high school;
  • Document proving the country’s grading scale                                                     
  • Document proving the grade obtained in the secondary education final national exam (if applicable to the candidate’s country)
  • Motivation letter.
 

Note: Foreign certificates must be authenticated by the official Education entities of the respective country. They must also be authenticated by the Portuguese diplomatic or consular authority; alternatively, the candidates must bring along the Hague Convention Apostille.
