Gonçalo de Almeida Ribeiro is the Vice-President of the Constitutional Court of Portugal and Professor of Law at Universidade Católica Portuguesa. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Constitutional Law. He holds a basic law degree from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and LL.M. and S.J.D. degrees from the Harvard Law School. His doctoral dissertation received the Mancini Prize in 2012 and was published by Hart in modified form as The Decline of Private Law: A Philosophical History of Liberal Legalism (2019). His research is primarily in the fields of constitutional theory, the philosophy of law, the history of legal thought, and comparative law.
