This seminar serves as an introduction to African tax systems, their specific issues and reform trends present therein. The main focus is on taxation in Portuguese-speaking African countries, in order to determine their general outline and most peculiar constructs. Angolan consumer taxes, Cape Verdean tax benefit schemes or the taxing of small taxpayers in Mozambique are some of the issues brought into the spotlight. The seminar’s ultimate goal is to equip students with the knowledge necessary to begin careers where they are in contact with taxation in African countries.
