We intend to reinforce the research within the scope of the «Observatory for the Protection of Special Vulnerable Victims of Violent Behaviour», carrying out analysis of Portuguese law and judicial decisions (in particular, in the field of sexual crimes, domestic violence crimes, human trafficking and slavery) to assess their compliance with European Union Law. In this sense, the «HYMENAEUS Project» (April 2023-October 2024, financed by the EEA Grants Bilateral Relations Fund) will go on and we hope that it will obtain important results to improve the protection of victims of domestic violence. This project also represents an opportunity to establish scientific networking with research centres in Norway. In fact, we plan to develop deepen scientific networking with European legal research centres to engage new projects to reinforce European public policies to protect new vulnerabilities from the perspective of fundamental rights. Due to the growing relevance of this topic in vulnerable contexts, it is also anticipated that the connection with research centres in Brazil and other countries in Latin America will be deepen. In this sense, the protocol signed with the University of Unisinos (Brazil) gives opportunities to develop new joint initiatives on Intergenerational Justice.
The project “Estate, Family Governance, Family Business Succession” will continue, aiming to increase the number of papers presented in relevant International Conferences.
Some researchers are participating in a project led by Monika Jagielska, Barbara Mikołajczyk, Piotr Pinior on «Vulnerability and Law», the results of which will be published in a monograph of Routledge publishing house.
An interdisciplinary postgraduation course about the protection of the elderly (and aimed at different professionals) will be created.
It should also be noted that several Master Thesis and PhD Thesis about the juridical protection of the most disadvantaged will continue to be developed and published.
